By definition, going home for the holidays is a profoundly nostalgic act. What one expects is never quite what one finds. What one remembers is another story.
Goings is the second major component of the Home project. In this dual audio-visual projection I show each parent and sibling as, one by one, they exit the front door of our house. A family portrait of sorts, it acknowledges the difficulty inherent in representing not just one person, but ten, who are part of a single family unit and therefore attached by the most basic of societal relations. I sought a method that would be capable of conveying this complexity, while also hinting at a portrait of our house.
